Bryant Grinder, founded in 1909, manufactures a complete line of cylindrical internal and external grinders (shoe centerless, chucking, or regulating wheel work fixtures) , center-hole grinders, plus a wide range of belt driven and high frequency wheelheads.

Bryant grinder has a tradition of excellence and innovation dating from its inceptiont to the present:

• The first Bryant Grinding machine, a three spindle grinder (ID, OD, and face). Machine is considered years ahead of its time. 1909.
• Bryant grinders used to grind cyliners, connecting rods, and other parts to Wright Whirlwind engine, which powered Charles Lindbergh's historic flight across the Atlantic. 1927.
• United States Army-Navy E Award for production excellence, August 1942
• Introduced the world's first high frequency wheelheads.
• Innovative Bryant Centalign design, having both traverse motions of the wheel on one slide, and on the same plane as the work centerline, 1950's.
• President's 'E' Award for Exports, 1963.
• Bryant Lectraline LL3 machine, the first CNC multi-surface grinding machine, 1979
• Development of hydrostatic ways. 1980.
• Model B+ Grinder, equipped with linear drive motors and optical linear encoders. 2003.

On July 18, 2002 Bryant Grinder was purchased by Vermont Machine Tool, founded in 1983 by Craig B. Barrett. Mr. Barrett brought a vision and drive for excellence to the acquisition as exemplified by seeking out the best qualified Bryant employees and hiring them to form the core of the new Bryant Grinder staff.
